A retired orthodontist, Ross studied chemical and materials engineering for three years prior to starting his dental education. He graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1984, and practiced general dentistry for three years, while teaching part-time. He then completed a one-year certificate program in TMJ disorders, and went on to earn his specialist certificate in Orthodontics at Eastman Institute for Oral Health in Rochester, NY.
In 1991 he started his orthodontic practice in Canton, Michigan, and taught part-time at the U-D Mercy and the U-M dental schools. After practicing for 23 years, Ross decided to retire from practice due to symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. He enjoys spending time with family, woodworking, reading and traveling. Since 2015 he has been involved in fundraising for The Michael J. Fox Foundation. He lives in Salem Township with his wife Kathy and son Gavin.
