In 2018, when I heard the words, “You have Parkinson’s disease,” my first thought was, “Why me?”
But that feeling didn’t last long. It quickly shifted to, “I’ve got this. I’m only 48. I have my whole life ahead of me.”
Now, seven years later, my Parkinson’s has progressed. My tremors are more visible, my balance is off, and I deal with daily struggles that most people can’t see just by looking at me. But with a commitment to exercise, a healthy diet, and the incredible support of my community, I grow stronger every day—and I stay encouraged to fight back.
As a proud member of Team Fox Detroit—the grassroots fundraising arm of The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF)—I’m part of a community working hard to raise funds and awareness. 100% of donations made through Team Fox Detroit goes directly to research programs that are driving progress toward better treatments, therapies, and ultimately, a cure.
Thanks to MJFF, real progress is being made—but there is still more to discover, more to fight for, and more hope on the horizon.
There is hope for a cure.
