Getting the Detroit community involved
There are five million people worldwide living with Parkinson’s disease – a chronic, degenerative, neurological disorder. In the United States alone, there will be 60,000 new cases diagnosed this year–and the incidence rate continues to rise. In 2016, we formed Team Fox Detroit, or “Team Fox in the D,” to raise awareness of Parkinson’s Disease in the Detroit Metro area. Team Fox Detroit provides those afflicted with PD, their families, friends, and loved ones the opportunity to be intimately involved with finding a cure.
As members of the Team Fox network–the grassroots fundraising arm of The Michael J. Fox Foundation–our team worked tirelessly to put together our inaugural gala in 2016, followed by second and third galas. All were tremendously successful events with a serious purpose–collectively raising over $1M with 100% of the proceeds donated to The Michael J. Fox Foundation research programs to find a cure.
Supporting the Michael J. Fox Foundation
In 2018, we are excited to expand our impact and have formally established our own 501(c)(3), Fox in the D–which is singularly dedicated to raising funds in support of The Michael J. Fox Foundation for research. The Michael J. Fox Foundation accelerates high impact science through smart risk-taking and problem-solving–committing themselves to urgency and efficiency with a patient-centered focus.
Our founder
Our founder, Donna Rajkovic, is one of the thousands of people around the globe living with PD who has adopted the MJFF’s singular goal: to cure Parkinson’s and go out of business. She continues to lead Team Fox Detroit with fervor and commits herself fully to funding research for a cure. On behalf of Team Fox Detroit, we would like to thank you for your unwavering support in fundraising efforts. We promise to commit ourselves to continue to fund research for a cure and refuse to stop until its been discovered.
